Immunohistochemical staining for CD105 demonstrated the presence of significantly more active microvessels in stroke regions of rats treated with citicoline following MCAO. Treatment with citicoline significantly increased the number of CD105-positive microvessels in the peri-infarcted and infarcted regions following transient rat MCAO after 21 days.
